New York: Pentagram, 2008. First printing. (68) pp., small 8vo. Pentagram Papers 39. With afterword from the publisher on tipped-in oversize card. Corner bumps to protruding edge of card, and light wear to covers, otherwise very good in wrappers with printed front and back flaps.
Photographs by Randal Ford of Austin musician Joe Ely's collection of signs purchased from homeless people, paired with portraits of (other) homeless people by Michael O'Brien, and a foreword by Ely discussing both his own homelessness and his purchases of the signs. A precursor to the more recent (and more widely reported) projects of artists Andres Serrano and Willie Baronet, who also purchased signs.
