About This Item

The First UK Printing published by Faber and Faber in 1956. Pictorial Boards. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Slight rubbing to the spine folds and edges. Creasing with a little rubbing at the spine ends and corners. Offsetting to the blank end papers. Occasional light mark. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Mild edge-wear at the spine ends. Light penned number '31' to the upper front cover - not very obtrusive. The Edward Bawden designed wrapper artwork looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. With five full-page colour lithographs by Bawden and a further six black & white illustrations, also by Bawden. Colour plates bold and vibrant. Scarce with such attributes. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
