Description:
441 Pages. This is a very old (1771) book in what looks like its original leather bindings about a man in the 17th-century Spanish Court and his adventures there. The book's exterior is all leather and has worn areas on all edges and corners, along both verticle edges of the spine, and has some worn and darkened areas on both front and rear covers. On the spine itself, the leather is dried out and cracking and there is a piece at the very bottom that has been worn off of it. The interior book has past owners' names (including one from 1774) as well as other marks on the inside front and rear pages, foxing throughout the book, and light browning on all of the pages. This being said, however, the printing throughout the book has remained preserved and completely readable and the book is still completely attached to its cover and thus the bindings have not separated and are still tight and sound. If you purchase this antique book from us, it will be carefully wrapped up, padded, and then boxed and shipped… Read More

Description:
The Spectator was a two or three page paper written by Addison and Steele that was published from 1711-1712 in London, England. Eight bound volumes of The Spectator were published in later runs, each volume containing about 200 daily editions.
Boards are rubbed, scuffed and soiled and most of the gilt spine titles and red band backgrounds have faded. Corners are bumped. Volume two's rear board and volume eight's front board have seperated from the spine but have a very clean break and could be reattached with some basic rebinding. Raised spine ribs. Endpapers and title pages show minor browning with age, but all other pages are clean and bright for their age. Indexes at the rear of the texts.
All proceeds benefit The Friends of the San Anselmo Library. No expedited shipping on this set. Extra charges for sending the set will be added to the order after shipping to match the actual cost of mailing.
