Clean green covers with gilt lettering and decoration on the front and on the spine, lightly bumped spine-ends and corners. Marbled end-papers with blue linen reinforcing tape over internal hinges (possibly as published), sound binding, clean pages. Colour plates have tissue protective leaves. xlvi, 190. Contains many colour and black and white illustrations. No dust-jacket. Previous owner's book-plate laid in. Stamps for Halifax Antiquarian Society and "Withdrawn" stamp on front end-papers and prelims. Pages of main text and plates (including reverse of plates) are free from stamps.
