The Songlines by Bruce Chatwin - 1987

First American hardcover edition, published by Viking, 1987. Combining fiction and non-fiction, this is Chatwin's classic account of a trip to Australia to research Aboriginal song, culture, and nomadic travel, with insights into the Aboriginal land rights movement. The dust jacket is intact and is not price clipped. The dust jacket has been protected with a clear, removable, Brodart brand library quality cover. Jacket has some very slight sun fading to the spine panel. 5-7/8" X 9", 293 pages. Dark brown colored boards over wheat colored cloth covered spine. Burgundy colored top-stain does not appear to be faded, - it does have one tiny dot of fading about the size of a pencil point. Edges of the text block have dots of tanning - to the bottom edge and the fore edge. This is not a remainder copy, not a library discard.
