London: Jonathan Cape, 1987. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bound in black cloth with stamped gilt lettering to spine. Fine but for slight curl to rear board & pages to last two signatures showing warping at upper & lower edges. Usual age darkening to pages & page edges. In clipped dustjacket showing very light wear to outer corners & a slight crease to the spine panel.
Synopsis
Follow Chatwin on his journey into the 'Red Centre' of Australia. Part autobiography, part story, part history, part anthropology. Teaches us how Aboriginal Australians perceive their landscapes, and negotiate with each other in that vast, nomadic environment.
