Collects nine stories including "Sandkings" (a Nebula Award winner), "Nightflyers," and "In the House of the Worm." "Nightflyers" is a variation on the old-dark-house theme featuring a psychotic sentient interstellar spaceship systematically murdering it crew; "Meathouse Man," is set on a planet where cybernetic zombies are used for slave labor and entertainment.
