Gay, all of the History Department of Harvard University. The Preface to the first edition, included, was written by the author. Contents include: Bibliography, Journals, Reviews, Proceedings of Societies Auxiliaries to Historical Study, Philology, Palaeography and Diplomatics, Sphragistics and Heraldry Archives and Libraries, The British Museum and other Repositories Modern Writers, General Treatises; Local History including Ireland and Wales Celtic, Roman and Germanic Origins The Anglo-Saxon Period, Eccliastical Sources, From the Conquest to Egbert's Suprema, The Crown, the Witan, Taxation; Education, Universities and Roman Law; Boroughs, Commerce and Industry Ex-library with typical treatments. Small piece of paper tucked into last page has caused tanned block as has bookplate on inside cover caused tanned area on fep. Bumped and worn corners. Bumped and worn head and heel of spine and small bump to bottom of front cover. Chipped and frayed top of spine. Three inch tear to left side of exterior spine.
