Gifford Pinchot (1865-1946) was an American forester, the first head of the US Forestry Service, the person for whom the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington state is named, and a governor of Pennsylvania. In 1929 Pinchot and family took a seven-month cruise to the South Seas during which time he collected specimens for the National Museum. On board were other naturalists and representatives of scientific institutions. Profusely illustrated. Record # 371309
