The first of only two books in this short-lived teen space series set in the near future and dramatizing the adventures of the Space Eagle - who was in reality Paul Girard, a millionaire playboy and whizkid. Influenced by series like The Lone Ranger, this was also partially inspired by the competition between the U.S. and Russia for domination of the new frontier. Duotone illustrations by Arnie Kohn. Authorized Edition. Based upon Characters and settings created by Raymond J. Meurer and developed by Meurer-Preston-Austin, Inc. Whitman #1578. 212 pp. plus the Space Eagle Pledge to America and 1 p of publisher's ads. Blue and white illustrated endpapers.
