Heavy book featuring extensive number of pages (1148 pages) illustrating printing fonts, printing machinery, examples of decorative as well as utilitarian printing, printed pictorial embellishments, storage units, cabinets, make-up tables, desks, etc. In brief, a compendium of all aspects of the printing trade. Sturdily bound volume approximately 10 ½ x 7 inches features two heavy-duty covers and contains over 1148 pages; useful index at rear. Light wear to extremities, corners bumped, 1 x 1/2 inch piece cut from Price List of Job Fonts page. Overall very good clean condition. This vintage typographic treasure house is filled with decorative frames, fonts and images, plus information and illustrations on machinery and equipment for printing. The first half of the book is devoted to different font families, starting with Garamond which is "embellished with the Cleland Borders and ornaments especially designed for these letters by T.M. Cleland." Includes a section on their 'cut-cost system of printing plant equipments' with room layouts etc - very interesting printing history. Very heavy volume; priority or overseas mail will require extra postage. .
