London: The Sphere and Tatler Ltd,. Near Fine with no dust jacket. 1917. First Edition. Paperback. An Original illustrated 'newspaper' / magazine. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs/illustrations, full page, multi-photos to a page and double page pictures, etc. Produced during the First World War. This issue is mainly concerned with 'The War in Europe', with a Special Section 'With the Wounded from the Battlefield'. Articles include : - ' The French and British Mission to the United States: General Joffre and Mr. Balfour in New York.' ; 'America Prepares for War at Home and Abroad...' ; 'Evacuating the Wounded after a Push...' ; . 'How the Wounded are conveyed from the Battlefield'. A Double page b/w illustration = 'After a Push on the Western Front: Clearing the Wounded from the Battlefield'.' - Drawn from a sketch by D. MacPherson. Plus ' 'Germany's Long-distance Bombing Machines: The Type which recently raided Folkstone'. A Full page 'Roll of Honour' - with small individual photographs - for Officers killed whilst serving; and 'The Great European War Week by Week'. Also a few minor articles on other topics including : - 'Women's Sphere in Wartime'. 'In the Petrol World', etc. Quite a few b/w adverts in the magazine, many with war-related themes, many not. Rear cover has and a lovely full page topical pictorial Advert - In blacks/greys/oranges - for Cavander's 'Army club' Cigarettes. The Front cover has Adverts, decorated border, etc, all in blues/oranges. And a 1/4 page photo of 'Stetcher -bearers carrying a Wounded Tommy from the Battlefield'. A few small marks, but internally VG. Overall VG +/NF. A fascinating period magazine and very topical given the current release of the film 1917. I have 9 Original copies of this illustrated newspaper dated 1917 (but NOT a 'run') that I am currently listing - so do enquire if interested in more than just this or any others - or the lot - during these dates.
