McAllen, TX The Valley Land Fund, 2003. Hardcover First Ed; First Printing, so stated. First Edition (2003); First Printing, so stated. Fine in Near Fine DJ: Book shows binding square and secure; text clean. DJ shows only the mildest rubbing; else flawless. Virtually 'As New'. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. Oblong 8vo. 189pp. [The Valley Land Fund Wildlife Photo Contest V]. Hardback with DJ. The book displays the winning photographs from 2002 The Valley Land Fund wildlife photo contests. The photographers spent hours in the brushland and backyards in the South Texas region between February and June. The animals are a glimpse into the nature the thrives on the ranches and homesteads in South Texas. Small sticker on the ffep states "A Gift from University of Texas Pan American." I have the full collection of the Valley Land Fund books. They are images are taken during a grueling contest in South Texas. Photographers test the limits of their equipment and talent to produce a diverse portfolio of the flora and fauna. Only the best make it and win cash that is shared equally with the private land owner where the images were taken. Again, the images are stunning. The contest and resulting books are the result of the hard work of many volunteers and the VLF employees who believe in the need for private landowners to be partners in conservation. You will appreciate both the pictures taken and stories within. Enjoy!
