Traditional Yotsume Toji four-hole stab binding stitched on the right-margin. Toyokuni Utagawa (1769-1825), was a grand master ukiyo-e print designer and woodblock artist, known for his portraits of kabuki actors.

(39cm x 27cm) Decorated cloth over boards in a pattern of foliage, and a small stream, with silk binding ties to spine. End papers in a cross hatch design on washi paper. With numerous halftone collotypes or photogravures. [2], + 1 coloured reproduction, followed by b&w images: 33 pages with two masks per page, 5 pages with four masks and one page with one mask. Images show high reproduction values, with excellent contrast and detail. A fabulous overview of the Noh mask and hard to obtain now. Each photo is accompanied by a detailed text in Japanese to facing page, which also serves as a tissue guard.
