About This Item

Hardback. Good. W & G Foyle, London, 1932; 4to, pp xv, 300, frontispiece and with 58 plates interspersed with the text and many of them folding; included in the text count are over 50 full page tables, mainly of quantities and dimensions for rigging; blue buckram gilt, spine and edges a little faded and dull and with the binding slightly slackening but otherwise a good to very good copy of this important book, a wealth of practical information on sailing craft in terms of rigging and furniture, published initially in 1794. This is a unique association copy which carries on the title page a neat stamp of the notorious German PoW camp Stalag X-B, situated 43km NE of Bremen and liberated on 29 April 1945 when it was found in desperate conditions. NOTE: the books weighs over 2kg and therefore will require a carriage supp0lment over the default carriage costs shown, the exact amount depending on the destination and form of carriage.
