London: John Stockdale, 1787. Hardcover. Very Good. Vol. 2 only, of 2 volumes. [6], 516 p.; 22 cm. Contemporary full calf with six spine compartments between gilt rules. Red leather label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title: Johnson's Debates. Volume number in third compartment. Board edges are gilt-tooled. Former owner's name on front free endpaper: Maggie Okeson. Issued as vol. 13 of a 13-volume edition of The Works of Samuel Johnson. Series title page precedes volume title page. Contains debates from Dec. 1, 1741 to Feb. 23, 1743 as imagined by Johnson, based on notes taken by someone else during the debates. In Very Good Condition: edges are rubbed; spine is scraped; gilt-tooled spine label is intact; title pages are foxed; occasional foxing otherwise; some pages are browning; otherwise clean and tight.
