Darkening and slight wear to spine, front board has some light marking and rubbing and is slightly bowed. Slight bubbling to pastedown endpapers, toning and foxing to free endpapers, a few occasional spots of foxing to text. Privately printed by M.R. James as a memorial to his close friend James McBryde, illustrator of James' Ghost Stories of an Antiquary. 'Fantasy fiction about the search for, and capture of, a troll in Denmark and the bringing of it back to England. The protagonists are W.J. Stone, M.R. James and the author, and the tale was inspired by their actual journeys to Denmark.' Locke: A Spectrum of Fantasy p145. The scarce first edition, one of a small print run generally estimated at 100 copies. Overall condition is Very Good Minus. Hardback. Printed pages: 38
