Second Edition (1911). 261pp, Preface to Second Edition dated January 1912, Foreword, To Go or Not To Go, The Russian Language, The Start, The Great Wall, Mukden, Across Manchuria, King-an and Genghis Khan, Siberia, Irkutsk, Jews in Russia, Jermak, Immigration and Exiles, Tomsk, Across the Steppes, Over the Urals, The Volga, Through Russia, Homeward Bound, 22 photo illustrations (including colored frontis), index. 16mo/17.5cm. Pictorial green cloth gilt, well rubbed at spine ends, short closed split at head of front joint, ex-library marks, otherwise clean, tight and very good. Marcus Lorenzo Taft (1850- ) seems to have been a missionary in China. This is apparently a record of one of his trips home. He notes in the Preface that six pages--on the Jews, Exiles and Religious Liberty--were excised by the Russian censors..
