London: Andre Deutsch, 1960 first impression of first British edition, some library rubber stamps to end papers and title page, also to closed edges, some faint adhesive residue to boards where DW was taped down FACSIMILE of first impression DW, the original had a sunned spine and was slightly trimmed to edges, with a small rubber stamp to tail of rear flap, book boards and spine lightly soiled, generally tidy copy even with these marks, closed edges lightly soiled, (500 gram rate) . First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Very Good. 12mo - over 6? - 7? tall. Ex-Library.
Synopsis
The Subterraneans was generated out of the same ecstatic flash of inspiration that produced many of Kerouac's other works. This book centers on the tempestous relationship of Leo and Mardou, and it was written over the course of three days and three nights.
