About This Item
(Paris): (Le Vasseur & Cie.), 1943. Loose plates. Near fine. Twenty-four black and white etchings and one full color etching, 5 by seven inches on pages measuring seven by nine inches. The color etching has an old tape repair on the reverse of the upper margin, not affecting either the image of the plate impression, else these are in fine condition. Each etching is signed in pencil by Icart at the bottom right. Protected in a custom clamshell box.
Icart created these illustrations foe a 1943 edition of Goethe's Faust published by Le Vasseur et Cie. We cannot tell if these are from one of those copies, but doubt it as the suite of illustrations in the copies we have seen are not signed.
