About This Item

London: T. Nelson and Sons, 1867. Small quarto. (36)pp. Illustrated with thirty-two chromolithographs, each with verse or prose captions. The book is divided into four subjects: Sunny Days, Home for the Holidays, Right and Wrong, and Picture Rhymes of Happy Times. Most of the scenes take place on farms and feature children as the main figures, but other settings include schoolrooms, gardens, and parlors with animals and parental adults in the background. The illustrations are prefaced by an introductory poem. Bound in full green cloth with gilt titling to upper cover. Extremities fairly worn, shine-through from illustrations on opposing pages, else a very good copy of a rare edition.
