Dark green publisher's cloth Titles in white with front decoration in Gilt and white. 8vo; 9 inches tall; xv, [i], 272 pages with an index; Armorial bookplate of Henry Barton Tate; Illustrated with 47 photographs on plates. 1907, (ref: British Library)]. Second edition.

The bindings are tight and square. Text clean, light even toning with some foxing on the preliminaries; Moderate shelf handling wear with pushed spine bands and the front lower corner has a small opening in the cloth; Slight shelf lean.. Written for the English angler, Part I describes the trip from England across the Atlantic through New York, Washington, D.C. (including a meeting with President Roosevelt), North Carolina, and arrival in Florida.

Part II explains the practices, customs and equipment related to tarpon fishing, and gives examples of particular fishing episodes. Descriptions follow of other fishing, the hunting of alligators, and end with miscellaneous notes on the fauna of Florida.

Part III briefly describes the continuation of the author's voyage, making stops at Cuba, Jamaica, the Panama Canal construction, the coasts of Colombia and Venezuela, Trinidad and Bridgetown

A good portion of the text is about tarpon fishing.
