The interior of the book is clean and tight. There is a gift inscription to a former owner on the front free end paper, but no other marks or signs of previous use. The black covers are fresh, with minor wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket is not price-clipped, and is also in very good condition, agaom with minor wear at tips and corners and one small chip near the spine. This chip is visible in the attached scan. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: This is the first in the Flavia de Luce series of junior mysteries. Eleven-year-old Flavia, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950 -- and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia's family calls home.
