About This Item

London: Petersburg Press,, 1968. Edition of 70. Signed and numbered in pencil lower left by Hamilton. This print was printed, embossed and die-stamped by Hamilton and Giorgio Upiglio in Milan with collage added by Hamilton in London. In February 1967, Fraser and Jagger were arrested for the possession of controlled drugs after a rowdy party at Keith Richards's farmhouse, Redlands, in West Wittering, Sussex. The legal proceedings started in May 1967 and were adjourned until June to be heard in a higher court. A photograph by John Twine published in the Daily Sketch on 29 June, showing Robert Fraser and Mick Jagger being driven to court for sentencing while handcuffed together in a prison van, was the source of this print. Hard ground etching, aquatint, embossing and photo-etching from 2 plates, metallic foil die-stamping, with collage on mould-made etching paper. Image size: 34 x 55.6 cm. Sheet size: 57 x 73 cm. Excellent condition. Presented in a welded aluminium frame with UV protective glass. Verlag 70.
