About This Item

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1939. Hardcover. Near fine/Very good plus. 8vo. Second impression. Original decorated blue cloth, front and spine panels stamped in gold, top edge stained red, fore-edge untrimmed. Small illustrations in the text by the author, endpapers illustrated by Robert Lawson. Some paperclip marks on the half-title, else a fine copy, but marked "Sample Room Copy" on all text edges. The dustwrapper is only light worn, and much nicer than usually seen on this title in that the spine does not appear to be significantly sunned. The price of $3.95 is intact on the wrapper flap, but it is also noted as the seventh impression.

Putnam stamped "Sample Room Copy" on titles it retained as publisher's records.
