Originally written for the author's French, Belgian, American, and Russian pupils in Switzerland during the early 1930s. Emilie Louise Michel (1909-1996) was born in Tacoma, Washington. She lived and received her preparatory education in Manchuria, Latvia, China, and Switzerland.
