About This Item

London : T. Fisher Unwin Ltd, 1925. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 5". None. A first edition of this collection of four stories by Joseph Conrad, with a preface by R.B. Cunninghame Graham. Including The Warrior's Soul, Prince Roman, The Tale and The Black Mate, the stories were written between around 1886 and 1916, the latter story (The Black Mate) being Conrad's only story about World War One. Each story had been published previous in publications such as The Strand and The Oxford and Cambridge Review. In cloth binding with gilt detailing. Externally quite smart, there is some wear to the extremities, joints and backstrip, as well as some light markings to the boards. The backstrip is faded. Internally, the binding is tender but holding and the pages are spotted throughout. The text remains clear. Very Good
