Description:
London: Bemrose & Sons , 1881. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket (as published). 5.5" X 8.5. 39pp., A classic study on the origins of place names in the English county of Derbyshire. This copy has had a tough life, the spine strip is missing and both hinges are weak. The pages themselves are all soundly bound. The book includes some related ephemera, including a letter and several newspaper cuttings, mainly from the 1920s. (Includes the author's obituary). Some cuttings are stuck to the pages, but all text is still quite readable. There is the signature of a previous owner (William S Longbottom) at the top of the title page. William Longbottom was better known by his pen name of Horace Weir, the author of many works on the history of Derbyshire. Please note that this is a 19th century produced copy and not a modern reproduction. All orders processed and shipped promptly from the UK, usually within 24 hours. Please call or email with your questions about this book. Not available for…
