Philadelphia: Henry T. Coates, 1897. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good+/No Dust jacket. First Edition decorated American trade binding in excellent condition. Scarce title. Brown cloth boards with black and orange forest scene on cover, decorated spine (man nailing message to a tree). Black lettering on cover, bright gold lettering on spine. No bumping or wear. All pages clean and bright. Faintest hint of soiling to rear board. Binding is tight, no cracking, with just a hint of lean. Clean chocolate brown endpapers. Brief previous owner inscription dated 1899 on blank preliminary page. Frontis illustration with clean tissue guard; three additional black and white plates. 425 pages.
