Guadalajara: Grafica de Comala, 2019. Arriola, Nacho Gomez. Octavo. 18pp. One of 60 copies, signed by the artist, Nacho Gomez Arriola. Illustrated throughout with Arriola's linocuts in shades of blue, red, and purple, and printed on paper made from agave fiber. A portfolio of ten additional plates, all signed and employing a rainbow of colors, depict the process of changing blue agave into tequila. Arriola's illustrations are both dreamlike and instructive, imagining that agave flies from earth to the distillery while still offering diligent portrayals of the environments and workers who enable the process. Vidargas' accompanying text is likewise didactic and celebratory, explaining how, in 2006, UNESCO designated the agave landscape and ancient industrial facilities of Tequila in the state of Jalisco as a World Heritage Site. Contained in artist's wrappers and bound, with portfolio, into blue paper boards. Some bumping to corners else near fine.
