Quarto (10 1.4" x 7 1/2") bound in original publisher's red leather with gilt lettering to spine in original pictorial jacket. First edition. This work is more than simply a survey of drama's history. It is also a comprehensive chronicle of theatrical technique, one that emphasizes stage and set design, costuming, and lighting as well as acting and play-writing. The profusely illustrated pages touch upon virtually every aspect of theater. Condition: Previous owner's name to title, some underlining through out else a very good copy in a better than very good jacket.
