NY: Random House, 1964. VG/VG. Stated First Printing. Book square with good corners and unmarred boards with publisher's cartoon stamp on front. Textblock has a small pen mark to the side fore-edges. Light aging to pages. No writing or bookplate and not BCE, ex-library, or remaindered. The dust jacket is unclipped ($4.95). Mild soiling, shelf wear, and chip to top of spine. Illustrated with delightful line drawings by Roy McKie. 6.5" x 9.5", 150 pages. Protected in a new Brodart cover. Ted Patrick really loves Airedales!
Ted Patrick, an apt pupil of many wonderful dogs — mostly Airedales — wrote this manifesto as a piercing indictment of that embarrassing tribe of people who think they own a dog, giving new meaning to dog-man coexistence. Even the usual subjects, such as housebreaking, training, breeding, traveling, and showing are treated in an uncommon way, to the delight the reader whether or not he thinks he knows the answers. Introduction by John Steinbeck.
