Foreign Language Publishing House, 1958. Hardcover with dust jacket bound in light lavender cloth with gilt stamping, translated from the original Russian by three different translators, 230 pages. This is a mid-century Soviet product with the usual quality that entails. Part of the Library of Soviet Short Stories. Stories are Ivan by Vladimir Bogomolov, The Third Flame by Vasily Bykov, and The Perch by Victor Nekrasov. Only date I can find is the date of 1958 at the end of the last short story. Cover is lightly worn but shows fading on the spine and margins. All paper is age toned with heavier toning of the end papers and an occasional text smudge, Dust jacket is lightly worn with the heaviest wear to the ends of the spine and tips of the corners, now protected in a clear archival cover. The condition is a bit rough with corners bent and curling, some pencil marks to the front cover and a note one page indicating the previous owner's relation to one of the airmen. Soil and a pencilled notation to the tan rear cover. This book seems to have been written and produced by the members of Squadron 97X during the time of their stay on PEI for training. Flight Lieutenant E.F. Dobie and Flying Officer W.J. Birrell are listed as "Men Responsible" so they may have taken and editing hand to this pamphlet. Text in Polish. 62 pp., some black and white photos from World War II. The author became an engineer for NASA and lived in Ohio at the time of the publication of this book. He was a recipient of Poland's equivalant of our Medal of Honor.
