About This Item

(Boston): David R. Godine, 1971. Coughlin, Jack. Quarto. 4ff., 26ff. One of 100 copies. Unbound as issued, and presented in thirteen blue-green paper folders. Each folder contains a signed etching by Coughlin. These etchings are portraits of the authors whose work has been selected by Robin Skelton, and the pairing of the text and portrait is an "attempt to show them ... as men concerned with the fate and character of their native land." Included in this collection are Yeats, Joyce, Shaw, Beckett, Synge, and others. The text is handsomely printed in green and brown using Centaur and Arrighi types. Near fine in generally scuffed morocco-backed dropback box by Arno Werner.
