Hardcover. 7 biographical chapters; 17 color plates inside, suitable for framing, plus b/w illustration of Gainsborough in the introduction. His painting of "The Blue Boy" is the frontispiece. All pages on heavy stock. Pages are clean and bright (no writing, creases, etc, ). The boards, however, need some loving care, particularly the spine. Paper paste-on illustration of Mrs. Sheridan and Mrs. Tickell is rubbed. Edges worn and backstrip wrinkled. Slight bow to boards. The illustrations alone make this book worthwhile. ; Master-Painters of the World Series; Folio 13" - 23" tall; 167 pages; 29991 .
