No jacket. Blue cloth covers show some wear and have a bumped bottom corner. Interior pages have some underlining and several were paperclipped together, which have left some rust stains in the margins. Previous owner's names written inside front cover "Dan R. Clemson Mechnaicsburg, PA" and "Frank G. Clemson Bellefonte, PA". Solid binding, pages in good overall condition with some faint tanning to edges. 212 indexed pages with bibliography. Biography. American History. South Carolina. Agriculture. 0.75" X 6.25" X 9.25" 2cm X 16cm X 23.5cm

Includes some black and white photo portraits. The book is divided into three sections. "His Life" deals with his career in chronological order. "His Service and His Dream" concerns his accomplishments and overall goals of his scientific research. "His Soul Marches On" concerns his legacy after death. Clemson was engaged in mining engineering, agricultural chemistry, agricultural research including research on the cattle disease Texas Fever, served as a diplomat in Belgium, and served in the Confederate Army developing nitrate based explosives. After death, he was best known for donating his estate to form Clemson Agricultural College, which became Clemson University.
