This issue has the addition of an errata page. Last leaf is blank as usual. In 1788 Hannah More (1745-1833) "published anonymously 'Thoughts on the Importance of the Manners of the Great to General Society'. It proved phenomenally popular: the second edition sold out in six days, the third in four hours, and an eighth edition appeared in 1790. In admonishing the upper classes More made clear her belief in a hierarchical and deferential society and argued that a reformation of manners could be achieved only if the leaders of society reformed themselves." - ODNB Condition: Very good. Some creases to the wraps. Occasional spot. Several small closed tears to the page edges, no more than 5mm.
