Frédéric Charles Wentzel (1839-1877) and Charles Frédéric Wentzel (1833-1911) took over the lithographic and publishing business begun by their father, Jean Frédéric Wentzel, after his death on 27 July 1869. This title, part of their series Contes Illustrés pour Enfants, is not in WorldCat. The Perrault tale of Bluebeard is accompanied by beautiful and richly colored plates. Extremely scarce. Lacking original wrappers; otherwise, in Near Fine- Condition: lower corners are creased; minimal soiling in margins; plates are striking and bright.

John Bland and Edmund Backhouse were already famous for their book 'China Under the Empress Dowager' when they wrote their history of the rulers of China - 'Annals and Memoirs of the Court of Peking.'
