Number 36 in the series of keepsakes issued for its members of the Friends of the Bancroft Library. First edition. The three memoirs that follow were created in 1877 as part of the massive accumulation of documents gather for Hubert Howe Bancroft's History of California. They present diverse views of California during the period of the beginning of Mexico's independence from Spain achieved in 1822, through the beginnings of American dominance, to the battles that led to U S conquest in 1846. Condition: Light edge wear else near fine.
