About This Item

Mansfield Centre, CT / Beverly Hills, CA: Martino Fine Books / Krown & Spellman, 1999. 5 volumes. BRAND NEW in perfect condition. STILL SEALED in the publisher's clear plastic SHRINKWRAP. NO rubbing. NO fading. Bright, clean, square and tight. Sharp corners. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a remainder. NOT a library discard. Fresh and crisp -- obviously never read. No date (but 1999, First Martino printing, which according to the prospectus would be "Limited to 150 copies"). Profusely illustrated. Facsimile reprint of the five original volumes which appeared between 1937 and 1952 from the Rosenbach Company in only 300 sets. This superb bibliographical tool exhaustively describes 4,000 items dealing with all aspects of tobacco. "Although the collection is devoted to tobacco and includes almost every important work dealing directly with the subject, it contains many historical and literary accounts in which tobacco has only an incidental part." The five volumes are uniformly bound in the original dark green cloth, stamped in bright gold over handsome black spine labels. NOT a Print on Demand reprint. Rather, this set is a quality production with sewn pages (not glued), a sturdy cloth binding, and clear, easily legible printing -- even for old geezers such as myself. Besterman 6141. Oversize Hardcover. 9" wide by 11.25" tall. This heavy 5 volume set will require extra postage for Priority and International shipments. But for media mail, you pay only our standard charge for 1 volume and we ship the other 4 volumes at no extra cost.. First Martino printing, Limited to 150. Oversize Hardcover. About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
