The first edition of this selection, and the first with these magnificent Reynolds Stone engravings. 4to. 94pp. One of 300 copies (out of a total edition of 350) designed by Will Carter, printed on Basingwerk parchment, bound in buckram and signed by Reynolds Stone. Stone contributes a title page decoration, five wood engraved plates and a small closing vignette; plus a small gilt decoration to upper board. Buckram just fractionally marked in one or two places, else a fine copy. No dust wrapper, as issued. Twenty-three poems (including the eleven-parter 'Flying Scrolls'), six of which are hitherto unprinted with several others making their first bookform appearance..

Dark purplish-blue grained cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A small area of discolouration to the head of the backstrip where the dust wrapper is defective, paperstock very lightly tanned and with just a hint of spotting to the title page and to very occasional text leaves. A very crisp copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, tanned at the spine panel with a single small area of loss, and with a little further uneven tanning to the front and rear panels. Former owner name neatly inked to the head of the front free endpaper, along side a date to the base of the front pastedown (this last obscured by the wrapper flap). Larkin's second mature appearance in print. First edition - the uncommon first state, which was subsequently withdrawn and pulped; this copy seemingly the publisher's file copy, with that text lightly inkstamped to the front free endpaper. 8vo. 66pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A fine copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, just slightly faded at spine panel and at the head of the upper panel, and with a small sliver of staining to the lower edge. Thirty Betjeman poems accompanied by a Piper frontispiece and seventeen line drawings, several of them full-page. Printing errors impacting the poems 'Bristol and Clifton' and 'Sunday Afternoon in St. Enodoc Church, Cornwall' necessitated a complete recall and a corrected edition was published the following year. First Edition (first printing) of the author's second book. 8vo. 106pp. Black vertical weave cloth, lettered in gold at the spine and upper board with a blind-stamped border. Portrait frontispiece of the author (from a sketch by Wyndham Lewis). A hint of fading to the backstrip, and just a touch of bruising to the spine ends. Half-title spotted, with a touch of further very light spotting to the title page and two blank rear flyleaves. Very good indeed, albeit lacking the most uncommon dust wrapper. Sixty-eight poems by the noted author, publisher and political activist..

A nice bright copy in the uncommon dust wrapper, slightly dust marked and tanned, and chipped at the spine panel ends with a little loss. HATFIELD BOOKS AND MEMORABILIA, a FIVE STAR SELLER, presents a VERY RARE ASSOCIATION COPY of the 1828 collection of historical Scottish prose and verse, JACOBITE MINSTRELSY. Though yet unverified, the early owner, signed Edward Sugden, is presumably EDWARD SUGDEN, First Baron of St. Leonards, Lord Chancellor of Ireland under both King William IV and Queen Victoria, and (for one year only) Lord Chancellor of Great Britain under Queen Victoria. 1828 is the stated publishing date, while 1829 appears in Roman numerals on title page, making this a very early printing. 3 1/4" x 5 1/4", 362 pages, plus 8 pages of index. No jacket as designed. Cover is marbled grey and brown boards with ¼ bound brown cloth, including at corners, titled in gold gilt on the binding. The front cover is separated, making the overall condition Very Good rather than Near Fine. A note follows the final printed page: "Robert Malcolm, printer."
