Very helpful introduction by the editors . Profusely and beautifully illustrated . defoe's work was first published between 1724 and 1726 . This edition follows the edition published by Yale University in 1991 . Bound in heavy decorative buckram with the front board illustrated by a map of England and Wales drawn by Herman Moll in 1724 . The book is housed in a Fine slipcase illustrated by a painting of Dixton House Manor by a member of the English School , about 1715 . The beautiful title page illustration is View Of The Thames From Richmond Hill painted by Peter Tilleman , 1720 - 1723 . Extensive notes . Biographies of the artists . A splendid book .
