Condition of each volume is VERY GOOD: wear to covers and spines- corners a bit more worn, a few light teas to covers, spine ends worn, end papers lightly tanned at edges, pages lightly foxed with some underlining and notes in pencil, bindings fine, a few dog eared pages, name of previous owner in ink on ffep. Vol. 1- lower rear corner heavily worn, a couple of white paint marks on ffep. Vol. 2- top 1/4 in. of spine end missing. Vol. 3- top spine end heavily worn. Vol. 4- front hinge lightly cracked. Vol. 5- bottom spine end heavily worn.

St. Ives: Being The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England (1897) is an unfinished novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was completed in 1898 by Arthur Quiller-Couch. Unable to write, Stevenson dictated thirty chapters of the novel to his stepdaughter as a diversion from his debilitating illness. He alternated dictating St. Ives and The Weir of Hermiston but gradually lost interest in the former. The plot concerns the adventures of the dashing Capitaine Jacques St. Ives, a Napoleonic soldier, after his capture by the British.
