About This Item

UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,4th imp.[1st ed was 1980.] NFINE/VG.No owner inscrptn, and no price-clip to dw/dj.Line illus dw/dj which shows some signs of sunning to both spine/backstrip and top edge of dw/dj,where it has been stood next to a smaller book.Top edge slighty aged and dusty.Brown paper-covered boards with gilt letters to spine/backstrip and plain white endpapers.UK,8vo HB+ dw/dj,4th imp,176pp includes 16pp b/w photographs, profuse b/w line diagrams in text and an index. Here then is an authority who can diagnose trainer's problems with the same sympathy that he has for the dogs.He believes trainers must recognise their own shortcomings and their mistakes, and learn from them.He tells the novice trainer what is to be done step by step and, just as importantly,he explains how to obviate defects of behaviour in the dogs and remedy them when they occur. The general care of spaniels from infancy to maturity is dealt with throughout, and there are succinct summings-up at the end of each chapter that are, quite incidentally, practical dicta to be remembered, such as:"Keep the dog interested.Don't bore him" or "This can be a frustrating lesson but you must not get excited - or punish the dog". Every facet of hand-training is dealt with in the first nine chapters and what follows is concerned with the first working season with your dog and then onto to techniques to be employed in field trials.By this time the owner too has been trained! This edition is out-of-print as publisher ceased trading in the 1980's. Please contact rpaxtonden@blueyonder.co.uk ,because of the lighter weight and value of this item, for correct, insured shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page!
