Tokyo 1930, A.S.J. Grey cloth over boards, very good, 205p., 2nd series, vol.7, articles: M. Anesaki; JAPANESE CRITICISMS & REFUTATIONS OF CHRISTIAITY in 17 & 18th CETURIES.A.Reisch- auer: GENSHIN'S OJO YOSHU: COLLECTED ESSAYS. & Others... . *** **** *** . . THE CLASSIC COLLECTION OF EMINENT JAPAN SCHOLARS . . ESSAYS ON ALL ASPECTS OF JAPAN & JAPANESE PEOPLE . . COVERING ARTS, HISTORY, ESOTERIC SUBJECTS, ON EVERY . . SUBJECT IMAGINABLE . . MANY ILLUSTRATED WITH PHOTOS, MAPS & SKETCHES . BY AND LARGE THE MOST USEFUL RESOURCE ON JAPAN FROM . . THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY . , * The essays were contributed by leading scholars, both Japanese and Westerners. A substantial number of these essays were never published in book form, and are therefore found strictly in these journal issues only. . *** These are bound in the original 1/2 cloth spine over boards, all in very good or better condition. Uniformly bound by the publisher. By and large these books were reference copies, and NOT circulated. Later editions are in the original stiff buff wrappers. . * FIRST AND ONLY EDITION: This title was only published by the Asiatic Society in Japan, by and large all are this original edition, except where stated otherwise. . * PASON J. TREAT GIFT PLATE COPIES: Some copies are with College gift book plate: PAYSON J. TREAT COLLECTION, ex-library copies with the usual stamps, and or small stamp on margin of title page & or possibly another on lower edge, else very clean solid copies. . Some of these copies are also signed on the inside cover by PAYSON J. TREAT [BUT NOT THIS ONE], all with the above gift bookplate came from his private collection. . *** NOTE: A substantial number of copies of this title were de-acquisitioned by Dominican College, from the Payson J. Treat Collection, as gifted to the library by Mr. & Mrs. Richard Davis. This group of copies all have the book plate which is posted to our website as spine.jpg. In many of these is the signature of Payson J. Treat, an eminent with his signature inside the front cover, see our illus01.jpg as well. . We provide a sample of the front cover as our cover.jpg. . There was not enough room in each specific copy to list the contents, therefore please ask for more information on any copy that does NOT have details of contents, or consult any standard bibliography which lists the contents. Please confirm interest by selecting "Series, Date & Volume Numbers" prior to ordering. . *** CONDITION OF EX-DOMINICAN LIBRARY COPIES: . Each copy had a spine label over a lacquered lower portion of the cloth spine, it was adhered to the spine & front lower left corner, now removed, remnants remain, and signs of removal. . Each of these ex-library copies also has the library book plate on the first fly leaf laid down, per the note above, pictured on our website. . Other than that there is a5 digit number neatly stamped inside the top back cover, which does not detract from the overall condition of the book. There are no other marks, stains or issues with the text, All texts are pristine clean, the books are solidly bound in the original publisher's original gray cloth spines with gold stamped series, volume number, title and date. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . * .
