Presentation bookplate on front inner cover to Officers Training Corps, Manchester University Contingent, Presented by W J Riley Esq JP (of Brierfield, Lancs) In Memory of His Son Captain H D Riley, 11th Service Battalion, East Lancashire Regt. who was killed in action in France on 1st July, 1916. Red covers with gilt lettering are darkened, more heavily on spine and at edges, remains of pasted label on spine and corners are worn, binding is sound but a little skewed, endpapers are darkened, pages are a little darkened but clean except very occasional brief penciled not in margin.
