4 volumes, 4to, original tan cloth-back boards with paper spine label, three folding maps, 524; 527; 534; 527 pp. Spines sunned and stained, Volume 1 spine detaching at head, edgewear and corners bumped; light to moderate foxing to pages and maps, map from Volume 2 detached but present; else good. The first three volmes discuss Dwight's traveles through New England and New York between 1796 and 1815. In the final volume, he reviews the morals, manners and religion of the people of New England. Dwight was was president of Yale from 1795-1817, and Sabin quotes the Quarterly Review stating "this was the most important of Dwight's writtings".
