First printed as 1810, Reisen im sudlichen Afrika, translated from the original German by Anne Plumptre. Lichtenstein was tutor to the son of Governor Janssens of the Cape Colony. Lichtenstein travelled with the Governor through the interior. Bushmen and Bechuanas are described and the information about the wild life and their natural surroundings is recorded in detail. Includes vocabularies of Karoo and Hottentot in the appendices. Mendelssohn I, p. 899.
