London, printed for the AUTHOR, and sold by T. Osborne, in Grays-Inn, MDCCLV. [1755].. FIRST EDITION 1755. 8vo, approximately 200 x 120 mm, 8 x 4¾ inches, 7 engraved plates, 6 folding, pages: viii, 1-392, [6] =index, bound in full contemporary calf, gilt rules to spine and edges of covers, no title label. Binding rubbed and scuffed, 3 plates have a closed inner edge tear neatly repaired (max. 2"), with no loss to image, pale staining to 10 leaves at lower corners, a strip of browning to edges of pastedowns and endpapers, otherwise a very good clean tight copy. This copy and one listed on Google, have the same 8 old ink corrections, all corrected in the second edition published 2 years later.
