Crease on bottom right inner dust jacket. Some foxing on the interior of the dust jacket. Pages are bright and unmarked. An enclosed card indicates that this copy is a review copy. This is Leon Forrest's first novel, with a foreward from Ralph Ellison, who calls the book "a delight" and praises Forrest's engagement with high and low culture, from the classics to "slum-street jive." Leon Forrest's first book. Inscribed by Ralph Ellison at his foreword: "For Phyllis Levita, somewhat amazed but with pleasure. Ralph Ellison. Nov. 5, 1989". Laid into the book is a request from Choice magazine for a review, along with a page of reviewer's notes in an unknown hand, and a brief typed review of the book.
